CTOnews.com, July 19 (Xinhua)-- developer Fervo Energy recently announced a breakthrough in geothermal technology, launching a 30-day oil well test in Nevada, USA, capable of producing 63 liters per second at high temperatures and generating 3.5MW of electricity.

Fervo Energy said that without any accident, the enhanced geothermal system (EGS) developed by the company operated successfully and broke the flow and power output records.

CTOnews.com note: 1 megawatt of electricity can power 750 homes at the same time. Fervo plans to merge Project Red sites into the existing grid this year and power Google's data centers and related facilities.

Fervo said it was the first company to successfully drill horizontal well pairs for commercial geothermal production, achieving a lateral length of 3250 feet, a temperature of 191 °C, and proof of flow control through rigorous tracer tests.
