CTOnews.com, July 19 (Xinhua) Volkswagen's ninth generation Passat will make its global debut at the end of August. Volkswagen has now unveiled the first details of the new generation of Passat.

The new car is equipped with many innovative features, such as intuitive display and operating logic, high-end interiors, a new adaptive chassis control system, advanced seats and a plug-in hybrid drive system with a pure electric range of up to 100 km.

The new Passat will be available in the first quarter of 2024. This series is positioned as a medium-sized sedan with a history of more than 50 years and sales of more than 30 million vehicles.

According to reports, the design of the new Passat fully taps the potential of Modular horizontal Matrix (MQB evo) in the new development stage.

Kay Glenz, a member of the Volkswagen brand management committee and in charge of development, said: "for the new Passat, we attach great importance to high sitting posture and driving comfort, hoping to make customers feel it right away. This is thanks to a longer wheelbase and a new adaptive chassis control system equipped with double-valve shock absorbers. At the same time, our new display and operation concepts are very intuitive. The temperature control massage seat shows our high standard in interior decoration. "

Thanks to high-end materials and effective sound insulation, the overall quality and comfort of the new car have been raised to a new level.

It is said that the ergoActive front seats can be provided as an optional configuration. These seats have electronic adjustment functions (up to 14 directions depending on the model and equipment) and are equipped with different massage and air conditioning functions.

The interior structure of the new Passat has been systematically adjusted according to the new concept and referred to the feedback from the public customers to achieve the most intuitive operation possible. As a result, the new Passat will feature a newly developed smart cockpit and infotainment system, with a 10.25-inch LCD dashboard and a 12.9-inch screen, as well as an optional 15-inch touchscreen and HUD head-up display, depending on the device configuration.

In addition, there are physical buttons on the multi-function steering wheel to make it easier to operate, while the backlit touch slider is located below the infotainment system display and can be used to adjust functions such as temperature and volume in the car.

The new Passat has more space in the back, increasing the length of the new car by 14cm, the legroom by 5cm, and the capacity of the luggage compartment by 40 to 690L, even up to 1920 litres (rear seat folding).

The car also integrates a new DCC Pro and vehicle dynamic management system, which greatly improves the performance of the new car, increasing the pitching stiffness and lateral force of the four-link rear axle (improving the stability of the rear axle to improve driving safety), as well as new electromechanical steering, improved anti-roll bar and shock absorber, and adjusted for different wheels.

Volkswagen also provides a further developed adaptive chassis control system for the car, with the option of DCC Pro and dual-valve shock absorbers. The system continuously responds to road surfaces and driving conditions, takes into account parameters such as steering, braking and acceleration, calculates the ideal damping of each wheel and adjusts it in a fraction of a second.

The model is also equipped with a vehicle dynamic management system MQB, which controls the functions of the electronic differential lock (XDS) in the DCC Pro system and the lateral dynamic components in the controlled shock absorber. Thanks to the vehicle dynamic management system, the handling of new cars has become more neutral, stable, agile and accurate.

It is worth mentioning that Volkswagen also provides a new generation of IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps for high-end sets, which are flatter than the previous generation, but have a range of about 500m, while the taillights are composed of continuous horizontal LED.

CTOnews.com noted that the new Passat will be available in a variety of power versions, whether diesel engine (TDI), turbocharged gasoline engine (TSI), hybrid turbocharged gasoline engine (eTSI) or plug-in hybrid system (eHybrid).

Compared with previous generations, the new plug-in model can have a pure electric range of up to 100 kilometers (depending on the configuration). In addition, all plug-in models will support higher AC charging power, and DC DC charging will be standard for the first time.
