CTOnews.com, July 18, according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, global smartphone wholesale volume (sell-through) fell 8% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year, 5% month-on-month, and fell synchronously for eight consecutive quarters.

CTOnews.com Note: sell-through refers to the sale of goods from upstream agents to downstream retailers, corresponding to the flow of funds from downstream retailers to upstream agents.

The report said Samsung took the lead with a 22% market share thanks to the strong performance of the Galaxy A series, while Apple ranked second and recorded an all-time high market share of 17% in the second quarter.

Despite a decline in the Chinese and Indian markets, Xiaomi still ranks third with a 12 per cent market share by expanding in other markets.

OPPO and vivo brands continued to maintain their fourth and fifth positions, with OPPO down 3% and vivo down 17%. Vivo's growth slowed in China this quarter, as well as fiercer competition in the offline markets of India and Southeast Asia.
