This includes reducing plastic packaging and raw plastics for other purposes (such as for the product itself) by 10%.

Sony said it took the 27-inch ELF-SR2 space reality display as an example, using product packaging without Styrofoam. Compared with the previous generation of product packaging, the use of native plastic is reduced by half because the product uses a cushioning material molded from corrugated board and pulp.

The focus of the product packaging is to select the appropriate packaging materials. The corrugated board is pressed around the cardboard of the box to prevent cracking and scratches if the box is squeezed. Pulp molding is selected at the bottom of the cardboard box, saving the trouble of folding the corrugated cardboard. Officials say they will reduce the use of corrugated board components as much as possible, such as layering and other improved methods to simplify the folding structure in the box and strengthen it at the same time. Sony combines the advantages of corrugated board and pulp molding to achieve a strong and cushioning effect.

According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, Sony began its "Green Management 2025" (GM2025) program in April 2021, with the aim of achieving "Sony's zero load" by 2050. GM2025 is committed to gradually reducing the use of plastics in the packaging of portable products until the use of plastics is completely eliminated.
