CTOnews.com, July 18 (Xinhua)-- the development of the automotive incident data recording system (EDR) market is driving the demand for dedicated data recording storage devices that instantly capture critical data and ensure that it can be stored reliably for decades.

CTOnews.com Note: car EDR, which is often called "black box", is mainly used to record the key operation data of the vehicle before, during and after the collision. The recorded information can reproduce the accident process and be used for automobile accident analysis.

Today, Infineon announced the launch of two new EXCELON series Ferroelectric RAM (F-RAM) storage devices with the density of 1Mbit and 4Mbit, respectively. It is worth mentioning that this is the industry's first serial F-RAM that meets automotive standards.

These new devices meet AEC-Q100 Class 1 standards and operate in the temperature range from-40 °C to + 125 °C, complementing the automotive F-RAM portfolio from 4Kbit to 16Mbit.

According to reports, these devices have reliable read / write performance of up to 50 MHz in SPI mode, read / write performance of up to 108 MHz in Quad SPI (QSPI) mode, and durability of up to 10 trillion cycles, supporting data recording at intervals of 10 microseconds for up to 20 years.

"the demand for data recording in automotive systems is growing rapidly. With the trend of wider use of electronic systems and the encouragement of industry regulations, airbag systems, engine control and battery management systems have adopted highly reliable non-volatile memory," said Ramesh Chetuviti, vice president of RAM solutions at Infineon. "with the increase in the number of applications that need data records. The demand for specific-purpose storage density is also growing. "

It is said that EXCELON F-RAM has a zero-latency write function, which can capture and record accidents or other user-defined data immediately before the event is triggered.

Both of these new products use serial (SPI / QSPI) interfaces with F-RAM 's unique very low power consumption, operating voltages ranging from 1.8V to 3.6V and in a standard 8-pin SOIC package.

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the durability mentioned above, Infineon also announced that its F-RAM can still retain data for more than 100 years after a power outage.
