CTOnews.com, July 16 (Xinhua)-- at the recent 2023 Russian International Innovation Industry Show (INNOPROM), Moscow-based IT XOR Group demonstrated a unique real-time monitoring system for drivers-the "anti-sleep" system, according to Itar-Tech news agency. This is not a pilot project, but a mass production system that has been applied in a series of Russian companies.

▲ Touyuan Pexels the company says 94 per cent of traffic accidents are man-made, while 70 per cent are caused by inattention or fatigue of drivers. The system, developed by XOR, is based on AI, computer vision and deep convolution neural network (CNN). The system has high recognition accuracy and helps to prevent or significantly reduce accidents.

According to XOR, the company equipped Russian ground urban transportation with a "sleep prevention" system in 2019, which reduced the incidence of accidents by 25 per cent in the first year. The "sleep prevention" system can be continuously developed and "learned", and there are currently 14000 devices running online in Russia every day.

The system is divided into three parts: one is the infrared DSM camera, which is used to analyze the driver's behavior and process the video stream; the second is the light and sound indication module, which is used to notify the driver of danger; and the third is the central unit area, which is used to store data and transmit it to the company's dispatch center. In addition, the "sleep prevention" system can also help collect data on the entire traffic flow and monitor road vehicles, road conditions and interior conditions.

XOR says the system stays connected and works offline even in the worst weather conditions. The "sleep prevention" system not only tracks the driver's status (asleep or awake), but also monitors whether the driver smokes or makes phone calls, fasten his seat belt and put his hands on the steering wheel. In the event of an accident, the saved "accident file" will help to determine the cause of the accident and the condition of the driver before the accident.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that the Russian "anti-sleep" system can be analyzed according to 60 points on the driver's face, while competitive products on the market usually can only detect a maximum of 12 points, so the Russian "anti-sleep" system has higher recognition accuracy. At present, the system can only be installed on commercial trucks, buses and other large vehicles, and XOR is testing a version designed specifically for light vehicles (mainly for taxis).

XOR also said that the software of the system is all written by the company itself, some of the hardware is imported, and based on the current market environment, the company is considering exporting the "sleep prevention" system to markets in countries that are friendly or neutral to Russia.
