CTOnews.com, July 15, at least eight states in the United States plan to increase road speed limits this year, hoping to improve road congestion. However, according to the latest survey data released by the American Automobile Association, raising the speed limit is limited to improve congestion, but will significantly increase traffic accidents.

Jennifer Ryan, director of national relations at the American Automobile Association, said:

At least eight state legislatures have raised speed limits this year. But the benefits are overestimated and the risks are underestimated. Raising the speed limit does not always produce the positive results that traffic planners envision.
