CTOnews.com July 15 news, Ford European passenger car head Martin Sander recently told Automotive News Europe that carnival (Fiesta) models do not rule out the possibility of using Volkswagen MEB platform.

Asked if he would use the Volkswagen MEB Entry platform for development, Sander said: "We haven't made a decision yet, but I don't want to rule it out." He also said that Ford and Volkswagen have carried out constructive and active cooperation, the two sides have jointly explored and promoted the development of electric vehicles, and the cooperation between the two sides has been raised to a new level.

CTOnews.com note: Carnival was once Ford's best-selling model in Europe, with annual sales of about 459000 vehicles. Ford stopped producing carnival models on July 7 this year, and the company will transform itself into a pure electric brand in Europe.

Ford's plant in Cologne, Germany, which was previously responsible for producing carnival models, has completed a $2 billion renovation and will use Volkswagen's MEB architecture to produce electric cars in the future.

Ford's first car based on the platform is a compact SUV called the Explorer, which will arrive at European dealerships early next year.

Explorers based on the MEB platform will start at less than $45000. Another model based on the Volkswagen platform will also go on sale next year, which Ford says will be a sports crossover.
