Matters needing attention

When releasing the cloud disk separately, you need to pay attention to the following:

Only the cloud disk to be mounted can be released separately. Other cloud disks (such as system disks and prepaid cloud disks used as data disks) can only be released with the instance. If the cloud disk is still in use, uninstall the data disk first.

By default, the automatic snapshot of the cloud disk is released with the cloud disk. However, manual snapshots are not affected. You can set the automatic snapshot not to be released with the cloud disk when mounting the cloud disk.

Description

There are 64 snapshot quotas for each cloud disk. To ensure that you have sufficient snapshot quotas to successfully complete periodic automatic snapshot policies, it is recommended that you delete unwanted manual and automatic snapshots.

Confirm whether the contents of the cloud disk are still valid before release, and complete the data backup, such as creating a snapshot.

Operation steps

Log in to the ECS Management console.

In the left navigation bar, select Storage > Cloud disk.

Select the region.

Locate the cloud disk to be released (the status is to be mounted), and in the operation column, select more > release.

In the pop-up dialog box, after confirming the message, click confirm release.
