Prashanth Chandrasekar also believes that generative AI will not lead to the replacement of human programmers, on the contrary, "the number of software developers will explode." "there are about 30 million official developers of Stack Overflow datasets, which will at least triple in the future," he said, adding that "developers who do not use the new generation of AI tools will eventually be abandoned by the times."

CTOnews.com found that visits to Stack Overflow had been declining, with traffic on the platform falling nearly 14 per cent in March from a year earlier.

In June this year, Stack Overflow released the 2023 developer report, which also pointed out that the generative AI chat robot tool has had a significant impact on developers. ChatGPT is the "number one" in the industry, with 83% of respondents saying they had used ChatGPT in the past year, while GitHub Copilot was rated as the most commonly used artificial intelligence development tool.
