Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the delivery of clues about the past. Beijing, July 14 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are considering giving up some control of their cloud games business in the UK to allay regulators' concerns, according to Bloomberg. It is hoped to complete the $69 billion merger and acquisition deal before the July 18 deadline.

This requires the sale of some of its interests in the UK cloud gaming market to a telecoms, gaming or cloud computing company, according to people familiar with the matter. It is reported that a private equity firm may also be interested in buying this part of the interest.

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard still believe it is possible to complete the largest acquisition in the video game industry's history by the deadline, according to people familiar with the matter. The deal made significant progress on Tuesday, when a US judge rejected the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) application for an injunction.

Microsoft is resuming dialogue with the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which had previously explicitly opposed the deal in May. CMA said on Tuesday that it planned to review the proposal from Microsoft, but they also revealed that the two companies would need to resubmit their transaction applications in order to restart a regulatory review that usually takes months.

Separately, FTC filed an application on Thursday asking U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley (Jacqueline Scott Corley) to ban Microsoft from completing the deal during her appeal. The move will also make it more difficult for both sides to complete the deal as soon as possible.

British regulators had feared that adding Activision Blizzard content to Microsoft's xCloud service could limit the burgeoning cloud gaming market. Microsoft offers xCloud to users as part of a game subscription service. CMA has said it strongly favours structural remedies such as divestitures rather than behavioural remedies. Because once the behavioral remedial measures are taken, CMA must devote energy to monitoring whether the relevant enterprises abide by their commitments.

Spokesmen for Microsoft and Activision Blizzard declined to comment.
