CTOnews.com, July 14 (Xinhua)-- Meta's latest social platform, Threads, has seen a significant decline in user growth and participation this week, according to data from analyst firm Sensor Tower and website analysis tool SimilarWeb.

Anthony Bartolacci, general manager of Sensor Tower, told foreign media CNBC that "Threads has at least broken Sensor Tower's model. Judging from the number of App installations calculated over the past decade, the performance of Threads 72 hours after launch is indeed unbeatable."

But then Anthony Bartolacci quoted data as saying that the number of daily active users of the platform on Tuesday and Wednesday (11-12) had fallen by about 20% compared with the same period last Saturday (8 days), and the user time was almost "cut in half", from 20 minutes to 10 minutes now.

Anthony Bartolacci pointed out that Threads did cause a sensation when it was launched, but it will still be an "uphill battle" to gain a place in the daily social networking lives of most users.

In addition, the latest SimilarWeb data reflect similar trends and conclusions. As of July 10, in the US alone, the time spent on Threads fell from about 20 minutes on July 6 to about 8 minutes on July 10.

David Carr, senior insight manager at SimilarWeb, points out that while there is a lot of interest in the App at first, not all users will use Threads as often as they do on other social platforms.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Meta's Twitter competitor Threads attracted more than 100 million users just four days after its launch, according to Quiver Quantitative's Threads Tracker data.

However, Threads currently lacks some basic features, such as unable to search for topic tags and unable to publish from the web side. The most disgruntled thing is that Threads does not display posts in chronological order, but recommends the content of brands, online celebrities and celebrities according to the algorithm, making it difficult for users to follow the news of their relatives and friends.

Musk's Twitter, Threads's arch-rival, is still in the lead, with an estimated 368 million global Twitter users as of December 2022, according to Statista.
