According to news in the morning of July 14, Beijing time, a group of former executives of Twitter said in a court document today that their former employer Twitter owed them more than $1.6 million in legal fees and hoped the judge would force Twitter to pay the fees now.

The former executives, represented by Parag Agrawal, the former CEO of Twitter, filed a lawsuit against Twitter in April, alleging that Twitter owed them more than $1m in legal fees and more than $500,000 in other legal fees, mainly related to the DoJ investigation and shareholder litigation.

When Tesla CEO Elon Musk took over Twitter last year, he quickly fired Twitter CEO Agravar, Vijaya Vijaya Gadde, chief legal officer, and Ned Segal, chief financial officer (CFO).

They said on Wednesday local time that the legal fees were incurred as a result of lawsuits and government investigations into Twitter while they were running the company. The former executives said Twitter's refusal to pay the money violated its own rules and regulations.

Lawyers representing the former executives said in a court filing: "for most of the past year, they have been trying to get Twitter to meet its obligations, but failed. In the meantime, Twitter looked for various excuses to prevaricate the payment."

To this end, Agrawal, Gad and Seeger together asked Delaware Chancery Chief Justice Kathaleen St. J. McCormick to order Twitter to pay the fee without a trial.

Twitter is facing lawsuits alleging that the social media company led by Mr Musk refused to repay multimillion-dollar fees owed to former employees, suppliers and landlords in order to maintain liquidity.

Last week, Musk's X Company, the parent company of Twitter, also sued the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz for the recovery of $90 million in legal costs. Former Twitter executives hired the law firm to push for Mr Musk's $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Now, Twitter's current CEO, Linda Yakrino (Linda Yaccarino), wants to recover the legal costs on the grounds that the lawsuit is based on false statements to Twitter.

Twitter has paid about $600000 in arrears, but withheld $115.8427 in legal fees and more than $500,000 in other legal fees, according to the court filing.

In addition, Twitter faces several investor lawsuits alleging that Musk caused volatility in the company's share price during its attempt to buy Twitter. Other former employees have also filed lawsuits alleging that Twitter refused to honour its previous equity commitments after they were fired.
