CTOnews.com, July 13-researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed an AI tool called FrameDiff that uses generative artificial intelligence to design new protein structures aimed at accelerating drug development and improving gene therapy.

It is reported that the design of new protein structures is still a challenge across biomedical and chemical applications in protein engineering. FrameDiff can construct proteins beyond natural variants. This method can generate protein structures that are different from existing designs, and is expected to accelerate the process of protein structure formation, thus promoting drug development, diagnosis and industrial applications.

The work of this team is supported by the MIT Machine Learning Health Center, the EPSRC Foundation, the Microsoft Research and Cambridge University Partnership, the National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship Program, the Machine Learning Drug Discovery and Synthesis Alliance, the DTRA emerging threat Medical Strategy Discovery Program, the DARPA accelerated Molecular Discovery Program, and the Sanofi Computational Antibody Design Foundation.

CTOnews.com noted that the paper has been published in ArXiv, and the application of this technology will help speed up the research and development of vaccines and drugs, and help the current development of biomedical and biotechnology fields.
