Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com July 13, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has now adopted 802.11bb and added it as an optical-based wireless communications standard.
As soon as this standard is released, it has been welcomed by Li-Fi enterprises all over the world, because it will help to speed up the promotion and adoption of data transmission technology standards.
CTOnews.com Note: "Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) is a kind of technology based on visible light communication (visible light communication, referred to as VLC), which can achieve two-way, high-speed wireless network transmission. It belongs to a kind of optical wireless communication (Optical wireless communication, referred to as OWC).
To put it simply, the familiar wireless communication system Wi-Fi uses wireless radio frequency (RF) signals, while Li-Fi uses visible light.
Unlike infrared or ultraviolet communications, this technology can strike a balance between lighting and communication and is suitable for scenarios such as hospitals, airports, the military and even underwater, but Li-Fi will not replace Wi-Fi and 5G alternatives (nor will it replace wired networks).
It is said that Li-Fi can provide "faster, more reliable wireless communication and unparalleled security performance" than traditional technologies such as Wi-Fi and 5G.
At present, radio waves still have obvious advantages in transmitting and penetrating opaque objects over long distances such as the atmosphere, so the advantage of Li-Fi lies in future scenes. It is worth mentioning that Li-Fi claims a speed of up to 224 GB/s.
Fraunhofer's Dominic Schulz points out that because it works in a unique optical spectrum, this ensures higher reliability and lower latency and jitter.
According to Schulz, Li-Fi uses visible light propagation, so it has stronger security in avoiding wall penetration, reducing interference and eavesdropping risk, and achieving centimeter precision indoor navigation.
With the release of the IEEE 802.11bb standard, major manufacturers are expected to integrate and lay out the ecosystem.
"pureLiFi", one of the Li-Fi leaders, has prepared Light Antenna ONE modules for integration into connected devices. As shown in the figure above, this 14.5mm-long component is currently being provided to OEM vendors for evaluation.
In its promotional materials, the company said that the reasons why Li-Fi is superior to Wi-Fi include more connections without congestion, higher security and privacy, and the ability to perform tasks with higher bandwidth.
We expect more manufacturers to launch a wider range of Li-Fi network devices and user devices that support this standard during the MWC exhibition in February next year.
