CTOnews.com, July 13-Canoo Technologies has delivered three pure electric transport vehicles (CTV) designed specifically for the Artemis mission to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

According to reports, the three "space vehicles" will begin service at the end of 2024, when four astronauts will be assigned to NASA's Artemis 2 mission, the first manned mission to orbit the moon in more than 50 years.

"I'm sure everyone who sees these new vehicles will be as proud of the manned Artemis mission as I am," said Charles Blackwell-Thompson, Artemis launch director.

Canoo describes it as a "multi-functional platform that maximizes cabin space, practicality and productivity in a compact area".

Officials say the three vehicles can accommodate four astronauts in Orion crew survival system pressure suits as well as support staff, including a pressure suit technician, and have enough space for special equipment.

CTOnews.com warned that the three "space vehicles" are not real space rovers, but transport vehicles for the journey from the Kennedy Space Center's Neil A. Armstrong operation and inspection building to the 39B complex, where SLS rockets and Orion spacecraft will be ready to lift off.

Canoo was awarded a contract to build the three vehicles in April 2022. "the focus of cooperation between Canoo and our NASA representatives is to ensure the safety and comfort of astronauts on their way to the launch pad," said Blackwell Thompson, a member of NASA's office.

As for Canoo Chairman and CEO Tony Aquila (Tony Aquila), he said his company is honored to be NASA's partner in "the greatest cause in the world".

"NASA's choice of our innovative technology to send a diverse team of astronauts to the moon demonstrates a high commitment to sustainable transportation. We are inspired by the pioneering spirit of NASA," Aquila said.

In addition to the three vehicles, the NASA transport vehicle also includes Tesla Model X fleet, which is used to transport the crew of the Dragon spacecraft, and a custom Airstream that will take astronauts in Boeing Starliner to the launch pad.
