On the morning of July 13, Beijing time, Google adjusted its NFT policy to allow game developers to explore new ways to use NFT for Play Store games.

NFT investors have been hit over the past few months as the value of their collections has fallen and interest in the digital asset market has waned. Google's new policy is a positive sign that the NFT market is not dead.

"We're back," says Kyle McCollom, the founder of a cryptocurrency startup. Industry insider Daniel Borovik (Daniel Borovik) also tweeted: "Google allows developers to use NFT in App and games! do you think NFT is dead?"

Google said in a blog post on Wednesday that it would allow developers to introduce NFT into games where players can buy, sell and earn tokenized digital assets.

NFT was once the hottest asset in the encryption industry, and many celebrities actively participated, but the collapse of FTX sent the industry into a cold winter. Global NFT sales plunged 38% year-on-year to $653 million in June.

In the face of blockchain and cryptocurrency, Google's attitude is not clear, on the one hand, Google Play continues to block cryptocurrency mining App, on the other hand, Google's cloud computing division is working with Dapper Labs. The NBA Top Shot digital collection was developed by Dapper Labs.

Last October, Apple issued guidelines to regulate cryptocurrency transactions on the App Store platform, covering the use of App and in-game NFT. Google's new policy is similar to Apple's previous actions. Apple and Google charge high commissions on in-app transactions, and the cryptocurrency and game industries are not satisfied. Brian Armstrong (Brian Armstrong), chief executive of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, publicly criticized Apple's in-app trading policy last year, calling App Store a pure monopoly.

Google Play has developed a set of rules for real money betting, games and competitions, under which Google Play supports transactions involving tokenized assets. If developers want to introduce NFT, they need to follow the specifications, such as ensuring that players clearly know the value of NFT when they buy.
