CTOnews.com, July 12 (Xinhua)-- Meta's chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth (Andrew Bosworth), denied speculation that the company had announced its latest VR headline Quest 3 in order to get ahead of Apple. He said Meta chose to release the Quest 3 news in June based on consumers' shopping habits, not because of concerns about Apple's competition.

Meta announced the Quest 3 VR headshow on June 1, priced at $499 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3598 yuan) and is expected to go public this fall. This headset is the latest in Meta's Quest series, with higher resolution, faster refresh rates, more powerful processors and more comfortable designs.

Meta's announcement comes just four days before Apple released its first "mixed reality" headline Vision Pro. Some people wonder if Meta released the Quest 3 news ahead of time because it was worried about Apple's competition. But Bosworth denied the speculation during an Instagram question-and-answer session on Monday. He said Meta chose to release Quest 3 news in June based on consumers' shopping habits. He explained that last year they found that if the new headshow was announced in September or October, many consumers would have made a purchase decision in the summer or already had the direction they wanted. so we can't make the most of the sales opportunities during the holiday season. "We want to announce it as soon as possible so that people know it's coming so that they can plan what they want to do before the holiday."

Meta plans to hold a Connect 2023 event at the end of September, focusing on the company's augmented reality and virtual reality products, as well as its meta-universe developments.
