CTOnews.com, July 12 (Xinhua)-- Apple's services business is becoming more and more important to the company and customers. CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research partner) released a new report comparing the use of Apple Music and Apple TV + by users of different ages. The report shows that an important trend is that younger users are using Apple Music more, while the oldest users are more interested in Apple TV +.

Apple set a new record for its services business in the second quarter of 2023, with revenue of $20.91 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 150.761 billion yuan). Apple does not disclose revenue for each service, but CIRP considers Apple Music and Apple TV + to be one of the two most popular services. Since these two services are also one of Apple's most expensive services, CIRP decided to study how users of different ages use Apple Music and Apple TV +.

According to the CIRP report, more than 40 per cent of Apple users of all ages use Apple Music, while less than 1/3 of users watch Apple TV+. In terms of how usage changes with age, young Apple users listen to Apple Music more often than older users. For people aged 55 to 64, the use of the two services is almost equal, but for the oldest group over the age of 65, they are twice as likely to watch Apple TV + as they are to listen to Apple Music.

CIRP believes that it makes sense for people between the ages of 18 and 44 to use Apple Music highly because they are technologically proficient and looking for seamless solutions. They may also have grown up in the age of digital music, while older users are not. As for why the use of Apple TV + is consistent in all respects, CIRP points out that people usually have multiple video streaming services, which is not the case for music streaming services.
