CTOnews.com July 12 news, four-seat supercar Koenigsegg Gemera debut in 2020, the car uses an innovative camshaft-free turbocharged three-cylinder engine, with three electric motors, output power up to 1677 horsepower. Now three years later, Koenigsegg has released production specifications for the Gemera, offering an optional new powertrain that boosts maximum power to an astonishing 2269 hp.

CTOnews.com notes that the production version of Koenigsegg Gemera has only minor changes in appearance, mainly modifications to the front bumper. The car still has smooth, low body lines, and the emerald green body looks gorgeous with gold wheels. Another change is the replacement of the futuristic camera side mirrors on the show car with traditional side mirrors.

One of the most important changes was the introduction of the Light Speed Transmission (LST), a nine-speed automatic developed by Koenigsegg for its two-seater Jesko supercar. Gemera was originally designed using the single-speed direct-drive gearbox pioneered by Koenigsegg on the Regera, but the Swedish automaker decided to apply Jesko's gearbox to the Gemera and renamed it "Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission" (LSTT), referring to the precision mechanical device in Swiss luxury watches, which eliminated the flywheel and connected the input shaft directly to the engine crankshaft. This allows for extremely fast gear change speeds, and Koenigsegg claims it makes the Gemera more fun to drive.

The Gemera, shown in 2020, pairs an experimental 2.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine with three electric motors, but the production model simplifies the powertrain. This is because Koenigsegg has developed a new type of motor, the Dark Matter motor, which delivers 789 horsepower and 922 lb-ft (1250 Nm) of torque. This means Gemera now requires only one motor, saving weight and space over previous solutions.

Koenigsegg Gemera is still an all-wheel drive model with four-wheel torque vector control, which can drive the wheels by electric motor, gasoline engine or a combination of both, and the powertrain can output 1381 horsepower and 1364 lb-ft (1850 Nm) of torque, which is lower than when it was announced in 2020. Koenigsegg claims that the Gemera has improved acceleration and other performance due to reduced weight and a new gearbox, but did not provide specific figures.

Koenigsegg offers an attractive option for owners disappointed with the power loss of the three-cylinder hybrid system. In addition to the inline three-cylinder engine, Gemera has the option of a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine used in Jesko. The 1479-hp eight-cylinder Beast is still paired with a 789-hp Dark Matter motor, allowing the Gemera HV8's output to soar to 2269 hp and 2028 lb-ft (2750 Nm) of torque. Koenigsegg claims this makes the Gemera the most powerful production model ever.

Koenigsegg was able to offer the V8 engine because of the LSTT gearbox, which made room for the V8 engine in the centre position while still ensuring four-seat comfort. The V8 engine was also configured differently from the Jesko, with Koenigsegg moving the exhaust ports to the top center of the engine and calling it the "Hot V8."

Koenigsegg has also opened a new factory at its headquarters in Angelholm, Sweden, where Gemera will be further developed and assembled. Production of the car is scheduled to begin at the end of 2024, with deliveries starting in 2025. No official price information has been released yet, but it could be no less than a million dollars.
