Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com July 12 news, a few days ago, market research agency Canalys released the latest report, recording the second quarter of 2023 global PC market situation.
According to the latest data, the decline in the global PC market slowed in the second quarter of 2023, with total shipments of desktops and laptops falling 11.5% year-on-year to 62.1 million units, after two consecutive quarters of shipments falling by more than 30%.
Shipments in the second quarter rose 11.9% month-on-month, indicating that the market is expected to accelerate recovery in the second half of the year. Laptop shipments fell 9.3 percent year-over-year to 49.4 million units, while desktop shipments faced a larger decline of 19.3 percent to 12.6 million units.
Ishan Dutt, chief analyst at Canalys, said: "The PC market is showing early signs of a rebound after a difficult period. Annual shipments are expected to decline in the second quarter of 2023, but there are signs that many of the problems affecting the industry are beginning to ease. While the global macroeconomic situation remains difficult, key industry players point out that end-user activation rates have been consistently higher than sales shipments. As conditions improve, we expect businesses to reallocate dormant spending to IT upgrades. "
Research analyst Kieren Jessop claims that positive market signals suggest the PC industry will improve further in 2023 and inventory levels will decline further in the second quarter. However, PC shipments for the full year of 2023 will still be lower than last year, as consumers tend to prioritize PC spending behind other categories when planning their own spending.
CTOnews.com notes from the above table that the data shows that Lenovo continued to lead the global PC market in the second quarter of 2023, with shipments down 18% year-on-year. Hewlett-Packard, which ranked second, showed a different picture, falling only 0.4%, thanks to Chromebook sales growth in the United States. Apple, meanwhile, has bucked the trend for two reasons: shipments of the new 15-inch MacBook Air and supply chain disruptions last year.
