According to the film, "Super Hero Monkey King: Qi Tianer" tells a fantasy myth about the stone monkey Qi Tianer from birth to wreaking havoc in Heaven. The somersault cloud with its own voice navigation function and the Monkey King form an "unjust species" partner into the sea. The film was nominated for best art film at the 35th Golden Rooster Awards.

CTOnews.com queried Douban page and found that although "Super Hero Monkey King: Qi Tianer" is a domestic film, two of the three directors are American Hollywood, namely Ralph Ralph Zondag, the screenwriter of "Strange in the Wind" and Dick Zondag, the animator of "Lightning Dog".
