Softbank Corp. is considering listing its PayPay payment business in the United States, Reuters quoted three sources as saying.

New York is considered a more attractive location than Tokyo because technology companies usually get higher valuations, according to one of the sources. In addition, the source also said that the timing of PayPay's IPO is still unclear, because the lossmaking company needs to first prove that its profit path is clear.

SoftBank has previously expressed interest in listing PayPay, and one of its executives said in November that the company was worth less than Y1,000bn (CTOnews.com Note: currently about Rmb51.3 billion).

PayPay is owned by Softbank Corp. Group, its Internet business Z Holdings and the Group's second Vision Fund. PayPay has been used by more than 55 million people in Japan and is one of the major participants in the Japanese digital payment market.
