CTOnews.com, July 12 (Xinhua)-- the gallery website Shutterstock recently announced that it will extend its partnership with OpenAI for another six years, allowing OpenAI to use pictures, videos and music from the Shutterstock platform to train AI models during this period.

CTOnews.com learned after a query that Shutterstock first worked with OpenAI in 2021, when Shutterstock allowed OpenAI to use its images to train the text to generate the image model DALL-E.

Shutterstock has also recently expanded its integration with OpenAI, saying it will enable users to "edit and convert any image in the Shutterstock gallery" and plans to introduce AI functionality to its GIF production platform, Giphy.

Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer of OpenAI, said in a statement: "We are pleased to be licensed from Shutterstock's high-quality content library, and this extended collaboration not only enhances the capabilities of our graphics model, but also enables brands, digital media and marketing companies to unleash the possibility of change in content creation and conception."

The Shutterstock platform has always encouraged AI and fully embraced artificial intelligence, but this also means that Shutterstock will face the challenge of copyright litigation caused by AI-generated content. To this end, Shutterstock has previously said that it will be responsible for copyright lawsuits caused by users using AI images on the platform.
