Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com Apple announced last month that it will bring new forms of advertising to the App Store so developers have more opportunities to promote their apps to iPhone and iPad users.

The company said the new ads in the App Store's Today tab will roll out to users in July, and a large number of users have already seen these new ads on iPhone today.

Although Apple has previously placed ads in the App Store, most users think it is not strong, until this new ad appears in the Today tab on the App Store home page.

Apple has also adopted a more compact look for ads, so users don't have to scroll back and forth to be fully visible. It is reported that the new advertising format will include the app's icon, name and subtitle, as well as the "ad" tab and "get" button.

When you open the App Store, you will see at first glance that the words "Ad" or "Ad" are clearly written below the Today tab, and you can see the full ad without the user scrolling the page.

Apple said that "with the Today tab ads, your app can appear prominently on the App Store home page," Apple explained to developers, and that "the new format ads will be simplified to show only the app icon, name and subtitle."

Because the new ad format is simpler and there are no distractions such as screenshots or details, ads placed in this card are easier to approve.

When you click on an ad, it takes you to a custom product page that displays relevant content submitted by the advertiser. Of course, Apple still needs to vet icons, names and subtitles for ads, and icons or names deemed "violent, offensive, sexually suggestive or otherwise inappropriate" cannot appear in these ads.

It's worth noting that this new ad format is only available on iPhones running iOS 16.4 or later, and the new ad slot is still not available on iPads.

According to a report released by Apple last month, the App Store ecosystem hit $1.1 trillion in 2022 (CTOnews.com note: currently about 7.93 trillion yuan), up 29% year-on-year.

Annosys economists estimate that last year Chinese developers generated $523 billion in total revenue and sales from selling physical goods and services;$25 billion in revenue from in-app advertising; and $21 billion in revenue from digital goods and services.

"The remarkable community of developers around the world has given us endless hope and inspiration. Apple CEO Tim Cook said,"As this report shows, the App Store is a vibrant and creative marketplace full of opportunity. We remain committed to supporting the success of our developers and the future of our App ecosystem. "

Annosys delves into the key factors driving the App Store ecosystem growth, including a recovery in demand for travel and ride-hailing, and strong growth in advertising spending across social and retail apps.
