But Apple later withdrew the update, which appeared to be due to a minor change in the Safari browser that made it impossible for some websites to access properly.

Apple launched its first rapid security response (RSR) system late last year, which is designed to enable Apple to automatically push urgent security fixes to devices without requiring users to make complete iOS updates. The goal is to get the device protected as soon as possible without having to wait for the user to update.

CTOnews.com notes that in the past iOS security updates were often bundled with new feature updates, which meant that users who wanted to remain secure had to update to the latest version of the operating system, even if they didn't want or need new features. For this reason, many people are hesitant to update their devices because they don't want to change the way their devices work. By separating security from feature updates, Apple makes it easier for users to stay secure.

However, developer Aaron found that the update was withdrawn shortly after iOS 16.5.1 was pushed. He noted reports that the update had made it impossible to access some websites, including Facebook, Instagram and Zoom, which showed that they did not support Safari browsers. Some netizens believe that this is because the user agent added a "(a)" at the end, resulting in some websites unable to identify browsers.

If that's the case, Apple should push it again soon.
