CTOnews.com, July 11, according to the Korea Herald, it was previously revealed that SK Hynix will provide a customized DRAM for Apple's new hybrid reality (MR) headset Vision Pro and will be the only supplier of the DRAM. Today, industry insiders revealed that the DRAM customized by SK Hynix can help the head show to double the data processing speed.

▲ source Apple website SK Hynix this time provides 1GB custom DRAM, which will be used to support the R1 chip equipped by Vision Pro for high-speed data processing. Vision Pro's core computing power is supported by Apple's M2 chip, but the R1 chip works together to process data from sensors and cameras, including 12 cameras, six microphones and five sensors. The data processed by the R1 chip will be used for head, eyeball, hand tracking and 3D mapping of the surrounding environment.

Sources said that the custom DRAM provided by SK Hynix has increased the number of input and output pins eightfold to minimize latency. This type of DRAM is also known as Low Latency Wide IO. Experts say the new DRAM also appears to be designed with a special packaging method and is connected to the R1 chipset as a whole unit.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Apple first unveiled the Vision Pro at its annual global developer conference in early June and plans to launch it early next year. SK Hynix did not confirm the news of providing DRAM for Vision Pro, saying only that "customer information cannot be disclosed."
