CTOnews.com, July 11 (Xinhua)-- Samsung Electronics and Apple will compete in a new area-the smart ring market, according to BusinessKorea.

Galaxy Circle's registered product categories include smart rings as well as smartwatches, smartphones and wearable computers.

While trademark applications do not necessarily mean that the product will be released, analysts say Samsung is preparing a circular product because the company recently submitted a series of similar trademark applications. Previously, Samsung registered the Galaxy Ring trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office in February this year.

"Samsung Health is developing into a hub that connects innovative Galaxy technology to user health," Samsung Mobile experience (MX) head of digital health said at a news conference in May. "We are overhauling the product line of sleep monitoring devices, from smartwatches to other wearable devices such as headphones and rings."

At the same time, Apple also submitted a steady stream of Apple Watch-related patents to the US Patent and Trademark Office, knocking on the door to the smart ring market. CTOnews.com previously reported that Apple recently applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office for a patent for a skin contact detection system that is thought to be used in Apple's smart ring (Apple Ring).

Experts say the Apple Ring can be used as an interactive remote control for other Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. The patent, filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, uses an OLED display and technology that can measure heart rate, oxygen saturation and blood pressure, leading more experts to speculate that the device will have the same health care functions as the Galaxy Ring.
