In terms of appearance, the HW 4.0 hardware of Model Y is similar to that of the Model X / S model, and the layout of the circuit board is also similar, except that some details are different, such as the overall shape is closer to square, which is one of the reasons why HW3.0 cannot be modified to HW 4.0.

Compared to the HW 4.0 hardware on the Model X / Sphine Model Y, it is clearly a "castrated version", such as the removal of independent GPU and better audio drivers, cheaper non-ECC memory, and seems to have removed two additional screen display interfaces previously added.

In addition, the direction of the HW 4.0 Ethernet interface of Model Y is also different from that of Model X / S, and the third interface that was previously added seems to have been removed.

According to reports, the HW 4Gateway chip and its suppliers are also different from those of Model X / S. the chip was previously only loaded on the Model 3 / Y produced in Chinese factories, and now seems to have been used in models in all regions.

In other respects, Model Y's HW 4.0 hardware seems to have removed the three new camera ports previously added to the Model X / S.

It is said that the HW 4.0motherboard of Model Y should only be a beta version, and the hardware of the production car may change. He also said he was trying to remove the Autopilot motherboard to see if there were any other interesting changes.

Previous disassembly shows that Tesla HW4 will use more camera interfaces, which is seen as another step towards pure visual autopilot. However, CTOnews.com has also reported that a radar unit was found after Model X was dismantled, but this unit obviously should not exist, because according to Tesla's introduction over the past two years, HW4 and its long-term plans do not need radar.
