CTOnews.com, July 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Internet security agency Guardz recently discovered a variant of macOS malware called ShadowVault, which can steal users' passwords, credit card numbers and encrypted wallets.

MacStealer was exposed earlier this year as malware designed to steal Mac information. The Atomic variant was born in April this year and is sold on a monthly basis in malware as a service.

The recently discovered ShadowVault has been upgraded again, specifically to steal sensitive data from macOS systems, which sells for $500 a month on the dark web (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3615 yuan), half the price of Atomic macOS Stealer malware.

Although ShadowVault's monthly fee has halved, the system is more complex, the ability to steal is more powerful, and malware can have a "catastrophic impact on business functions and user privacy," Guardz said.
