CTOnews.com, July 10 (Xinhua) Volkswagen previously used ArgoAI to develop self-driving cars in its own cars, but because of obstacles in its development, Volkswagen said last year that it had abandoned ArgoAI to cooperate with other companies in self-driving.

It is reported that ArgoAI was founded in 2016 to develop on-board hardware and software, high-precision maps and cloud devices for self-driving cars. The company received $3.6 billion from Volkswagen and Ford between 2017 and 2020, but Volkswagen decided in October last year to end its investment in ArgoAI and dissolve ArgoAI on the spot.

▲ Tuyuan Ford Volkswagen announced that it has partnered with Intel subsidiary Mobileye to begin testing Volkswagen ID.Buzz cars with Intel self-driving technology in Austin, Texas.

▲ Touyuan Ford CTOnews.com noted that Volkswagen had been testing self-driving cars in Germany for the first time in the US market.

Volkswagen has set up a team called VolkswagenGroupofAmerica (VWGoA) to lead the business and will initially deploy 10 self-driving cars in Austin, Texas. Volkswagen said it expected to deploy self-driving test fleets in at least three other US cities over the next three years and launch commercial self-driving cars in 2026.
