CTOnews.com, July 10 (Xinhua)-- the Japanese government recently plans to require Apple and Google to forcibly open the side of mobile apps to allow users to install App through third-party app stores, according to ITmedia. In response, Kiran Mani, head of Google Play Asia Pacific, said at an event held today: "Google Play is one of many app stores, and users can choose other stores."

First, when a user installs an application outside of Google Play, the Android system issues a clear warning that the application has exceeded the standard security process.

Second, if the user confirms the warning message and still chooses to install, the system does not execute further warnings.

Finally, the Google Play Protect mechanism is running on the Android operating system, and users will be warned if malware or applications that behave suspiciously are detected. In some cases, these applications will be forcibly disabled.

Mani stressed that regardless of the outcome of governments' mandatory discussions on side loading, the three processes would continue.

Mani also said that if new app store operators use forced sideloading as an opportunity to enter the market, it will lead to an increase in distribution destinations for app developers and competition between stores. However, for many developers, distribution on Google Play will be the most feasible option. This is because Google Play has a large number of users, is compatible with national legal systems and payment systems, and has security measures in place.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Japan's Cabinet Digital Market Competition Commission prepared a final report in June, defining the direction of new rules for large IT companies, including regulations to open up the app market, such as forcing Apple and Google to open third-party app stores for iOS and Android.
