CTOnews.com, July 9 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft is introducing a series of new improvements to the Windows Android subsystem (Windows Subsystem for Android,WSA) running Android apps on Windows 11. Version 2306 is now being tested on the preview channel, and the update will be pushed to all users in the future.

This update brings improvements to the network, picture-in-picture, storage, OneDrive, advanced settings, security and so on. Microsoft also stressed that the version includes a number of features requested by users.

-press F11 in full screen mode to display the floating taskbar and improve the mouse and touch experience

-Local network (under advanced settings-experimental features), replacing "advanced network". Android apps can connect to devices on the same network and work on all versions of Windows, following Windows firewall rules

-share user folders (under advanced settings-experimental features), which now allow users to change their default shared folders

-if an application attempts to use permissions that the subsystem does not have, the subsystem prompts the user

-the subsystem has been switched from EROFS to EXT4 as a read-only disk

-fixed an issue where OneDrive folders are not displayed in Android apps

-support drag-and-drop functions for more file types (function request: MIME type # 335 that is not supported when dragging and dropping files to the application)

-improved picture-in-picture function (there is a new UI button for picture-in-picture)

-partial operation mode is enabled by default for devices with at least 16GB memory

-ARM equipment stability repair

-Linux kernel updated to 5.15.104

-Android 13 security update.
