The world's largest "salt-light complementary" project-Huadian Tianjin Haijing "salt-photovoltaic" photovoltaic project was officially connected to the grid recently.

CTOnews.com learned from China Huadian that the project, located in Changlu Salt Plant in Tianjin Binhai New area, covers an area of 20, 000 mu, equivalent to 1868 football fields, and can provide 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.25 million tons, which can meet the electricity consumption of 1.5 million households in a year. The photovoltaic sheet piles of the project are 14 meters apart, 15 meters offshore and 17 degrees tilted.

It is understood that "complementary salt and light" is a combination of salt drying and photovoltaic power generation. On the premise of ensuring the production performance of the basic salt industry, photovoltaic modules are set up at a certain height on the salt field to achieve the effective operation of water power generation, surface salt drying and underwater aquaculture. One place, three uses, greatly improve the benefit of output value per unit area.

The project uses double-sided photovoltaic panels, which not only absorb direct sunlight from the sun, but also absorb sunlight reflected from the water surface on the back, increasing power generation efficiency by 5% and 7%.

In the first half of this year, China Huadian power project new energy started 14.32 million kilowatts, put into production of 6.41 million kilowatts, put into production capacity increased 15 times compared with the same period last year; currently under construction of 22.97 million kilowatts of new energy projects, an increase of 3.3 times.
