CTOnews.com July 7 news, the China Federation of Electric Power Enterprises today released the "China Power Industry Annual Development report 2023." According to the report, the overall balance of national power supply and demand in 2023 is tight, and the growth rate of electricity consumption of the whole society is expected to be about 6% for the whole year, and power supply and demand in some areas is tight for some periods of time.

In terms of power production and supply, by the end of 2022, the country's full-caliber power generation capacity was 2.56733 billion kilowatts, an increase of 8.0 percent over the previous year, or 0.2 percentage points higher than the previous year. Of this total, grid-connected wind power was 365.64 million kilowatts, an increase of 11.2 percent over the previous year, and solar power generation was 392.68 million kilowatts, an increase of 28.1 percent over the previous year.

In terms of power investment and construction, China's installed power generation capacity increased by 202.98 million kilowatts in 2022, an increase of 13.3 percent over the previous year. The total installed capacity of wind power and solar power continued to exceed 100 million kilowatts, accounting for 62.5% of the total installed capacity. Of these, solar power generation was 88.21 million kilowatts, an increase of 61.7 percent over the previous year, a record high. The new installed capacity of distributed photovoltaic power generation was 51.11 million kilowatts, accounting for about 60 percent of the new installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation. Centralized and distributed development was carried out at the same time.

The report also pointed out that by 2030, China's electrification process is expected to enter a medium-term transition stage, driving the proportion of electric energy in terminal energy consumption to about 35%, and the substitution of electric energy in industrial, construction, transportation and other terminal energy sectors will continue to be strengthened.

In addition, the report also predicts that by 2030, the installed proportion of non-fossil energy power generation will reach about 60%, the proportion of non-fossil energy generation will be close to 50%, and the increment of non-fossil power generation will account for about 90% of the electricity consumption increment of the whole society.
