CTOnews.com July 8 news, although Tesla in the field of new energy vehicles, but the traditional American car companies are still not to be underestimated. Therefore, Tesla hopes that the US government will formulate a stricter policy on vehicle emission restrictions than the standards proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in April this year.
In April this year, the EPA proposed a car standard for 2027-2032. The standard will reduce emissions by 56 per cent and is expected to achieve 60 per cent penetration of electric vehicles by 2030 and will increase that to 67 per cent by 2032.
In a public comment on Friday, Tesla said it hoped the EPA would adopt stricter plans to ensure penetration of more than 69 per cent of electric vehicles by 2032.
Tesla added that it believes the EPA may require that fuel vehicles be stopped as early as 2030, noting that "there is a strong legal basis for a stricter set of standards than the EPA is currently proposing."
Tesla also said it believed that the EPA's "cost assumptions were too high and not fully supported" because they did not fully take into account the recorded decline in battery pack and assembly costs and the significant increase in electric vehicle mileage in other ways.
▲ Touyuan Pexels last week, an automotive innovation alliance of almost all automakers except Tesla urged the EPA to slow down its proposal, saying it was neither reasonable nor feasible. CTOnews.com note: representatives of the association, which includes general motors, Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai and other companies, believe that 2030 of electric vehicles, plug-in electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles should have penetration rates of only 40 to 50 per cent.
Tesla also hopes that the EPA will make its proposal more stringent by abolishing the emission reduction points earned by fuel vehicles.
Tesla said his internal model predicted that 28 per cent of the vehicles sold in 2026 would be zero-emission models, adding that the EPA's "model seriously underestimated Tesla's sales and predicted it to be less than 100000 vehicles a year".
Tesla said the prediction was "inexplicable and unreasonable and unjustifiably weakened the rigor of the rules. By 2022, Tesla's sales in the United States have approached 500000." Tesla said it had provided the EPA with confidential information on production and sales forecasts.
