CTOnews.com, July 7-Toyota is considering making its two factories in Japan operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends, to produce batteries for electric vehicles, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun.

In the past, Toyota factories have been closed from midnight to dawn on weekdays and holidays, making uninterrupted work an unprecedented move given the growing demand for electric cars. Toyota believes that batteries are the core components of electric vehicles, and continuous operation is essential to ensure the quality of batteries.

At present, Toyota's layout in the field of electric vehicles is frequent. CTOnews.com previously reported that Toyota said on July 4 that it had made a major breakthrough in battery technology: it was able to halve the weight, size and cost of batteries.

Toyota claims to have developed ways to improve battery durability and believes it can now produce solid-state batteries with a range of 1200 kilometers and a charging time of 10 minutes or less.

In addition, Toyota plans to adopt integrated die-casting technology for a new generation of all-electric models in 2026, which claims to reduce parts and processes and make effective use of factory land resources.

According to the Nippon Keizai Shimbun on June 27, Toyota and Enecoat Technologies, a Japanese start-up from Kyoto University, announced that they will jointly develop perovskite photovoltaic cells and strive to put them on the roof of pure electric vehicles by 2030. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also said on Twitter recently that he hoped Toyota would join Tesla's NACS charging standard.
