CTOnews.com, July 7 (Xinhua)-- Intel stopped producing some Cascade Lake Xeon processors due to fierce competition from the AMD EPYC Rome series, but many Cascade Lake models survived. Now, Intel has decided to cut some of the remaining "survivors".

Intel introduced Cascade Lake in 2019 to replace Skylake processors and is manufactured using 14nm technology, including Cascade Lake-X for HEDT (High-End Desktop, high-end desktop processors), Cascade Lake-W for workstations, and Cascade Lake-SP and Cascade Lake-AP for servers.

According to Intel's latest product change notice (PCN), Intel has stopped producing Cascade Lake-X and Cascade Lake-W series.

Cascade Lake-X is part of the Core X series, which includes only four Core i9 versions:

I9-10980XE Extreme Edition

I9-10940X

I9-10920X

I9-10900X

Intel has given up on HEDT for some time, and Cascade Lake-X is its last HEDT processor. Before the launch of Sapphire Rapids, there were rumors that Intel might return to HEDT through Sapphire Rapids-X, but it is still a rumor.

There are more versions of Cascade Lake-W processors in the Intel Xeon WMY 2200 series, ranging from quad-core Xeon WMY 2225 to 18-core Xeon WMY 2295. At present, Intel has stopped production of the Wmuri 2200 series.

CTOnews.com found in an official notice that Intel had set a final stop-of-production order date for April 26, 2024, and that the company would ship Cascade Lake-X and Cascade Lake-W orders by January 31, 2025.
