CTOnews.com, July 7 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft posted a message on its Health Control Center page, acknowledging that there is a search BUG in the web version of Outlook, which triggers abnormal 401errors when users search for email.

"We initially reviewed Outlook.com server logs, crawled HTTP Archive format (HAR) logs, and internally reproduced 401 search errors reported by users," Microsoft said.

Users reported that the entire search failure began at 08:30 Beijing time on July 6 and lasted at least 12 hours.

Microsoft released an announcement at 04:14 Beijing time on July 7, announcing that it had fixed the search problem with the web version of Outlook.

Our further analysis of the 401 exception error revealed that it was due to configuration problems introduced by recent service updates that users were unable to perform keyword searches in Outlook.com. After restoring the problematic service updates, we have verified and fixed the above effects.
