CTOnews.com, July 6 (Xinhua)-- pinduoduo's ultra-low-cost e-commerce platform Temu has been launched in Japan, marking its first foray into the Asian market, Reuters reported.

Temu is a sister website of Pinduoduo, whose main business is to sell and ship goods from Chinese merchants directly to overseas customers at the lowest prices, ranging from clothing to electronics to household products.

The drop-down menu on the Temu website already supports the selection of Japan as the target country for shipment. However, neither Temu nor pinduoduo commented on their near-term expansion or future plans.

Temu's sales model has so far been popular in the West, especially given that many consumers in Europe and the United States have been grappling with inflation and cost of living crises. Since its launch in the United States in September last year, Boston-based Temu has expanded to 22 other countries and regions, and many of them are in the forefront or even the top of the App download list.

CTOnews.com previously reported that in April this year, Temu launched in many European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and so on, many of which are priced below $0.90 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 6.525 yuan) or 1 pound (currently about 9.21 yuan), which is very attractive to consumers in Europe and the United States.
