Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, July 6 (Xinhua)-- German luxury carmaker Audi will start producing electric cars in Mexico and is expected to announce the plan later this month, according to Reuters.

Audi, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, has been producing the compact SUV Audi Q5 in the Mexican state of Puebla since 2016, and later launched a hybrid version.

It is said that Audi will announce its expansion plans on July 18, the same day it will announce plans to expand the production of electric vehicles at its San Jose Chapa plant in Puebla.

When asked about the matter, an Audi spokesman said: "We cannot confirm any business trips or announcements." Having said that, the spokesman also pointed out that Audi hopes to produce at least one electric car in every production base around the world by 2030.

It is worth noting that Puebla is already home to a Volkswagen factory and one of the largest in Mexico. CTOnews.com inquiry found that there are still many auto parts suppliers in the region.

Mexican President Andries Manuel Lopez Obrador revealed last month that there will be more investment in Puebla's auto industry, but it is still not clear how much Audi will invest, and Puebla's Ministry of Economic Affairs has not responded.
