CTOnews.com Russian electronics retailer M.Video-Eldorado said that in the first half of 2023, Chinese smartphone brands dominated the Russian market, accounting for more than 70% of total sales, up from 55% in the same period last year.

Due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Samsung and Apple have restricted their sales in the Russian market, so Chinese-branded smartphones such as Xiaomi and Realme are increasingly favored by local consumers.

The report pointed out that the total shipment volume of Russian mobile phone market in the first half of 2023 was 13 million units, an increase of 17% year-on-year.

"Chinese brands continue to systematically increase their influence," M.Video said in a statement Tuesday. Flagship models and foldable smartphones of Chinese brands are in particularly high demand."

M.Video said eight of Russia's top 10 best-selling smartphones in the first half of this year came from China, and CTOnews.com did not find a detailed list.
