According to CTOnews.com news on July 5, Tesla announced that the prices of Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles would be reduced in the Japanese market, effective at the beginning of this month.

The prices of both low-cost models have been reduced by single-digit percentage points, the company said in a statement released Wednesday. According to Tesla's website, the price of all versions of Model 3 has been reduced by about 3%, while the price of all versions of Model Y has been reduced by about 4%.

Tesla said the price reduction of Model 3 made it cheaper in Japan than it used to be when it was purchased with various subsidies.

Tesla raised the prices of the Model 3 and Model Y in Japan two months ago, and the basic Model 3 now sells for 524.56 million yen (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 262000 yuan), while Model Y sells for 563.7 million yen (currently about 282000 yuan). The long-haul and high-performance versions are slightly higher than the basic version. Tesla has not changed the prices of two high-priced models, the Model S and the Model X, which began to be ordered in Japan in May.
