According to CTOnews.com, Amazon Kindle's direct publishing program allows many real authors to present their works to the public without relying on large publishers. The process is very simple, as long as you register and upload books. However, with the progress of technology, AI produces more and more books, and the quality is uneven. Some books are meaningless and confusing.

Caitlyn Lynch, an independent author, said on Twitter that of Amazon's top 100 bestsellers of contemporary romantic novels for teenagers and adults, only 19 were actually written by people, while the rest were apparently generated by AI. A website called Motherload later surveyed dozens of books on the platform and found that AI books had disappeared from the best-seller list, but they were still available for purchase.

The Motherboard website contacted Amazon to ask about its handling of the matter. Amazon said it had "clear guidelines" on which books can be sold on the platform and will investigate in a timely manner when complaints are received to protect the interests of readers and authors.

It is reported that the number of books generated and assisted by AI has increased after the introduction of AI text generators and image generator tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney. The principle of AI generator is to grab a large number of text and images from the Internet, some of which have not been agreed by the creators.
