CTOnews.com, July 5 (Xinhua) the Dutch government said that from January 1, 2024, the use of devices such as mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches will be basically banned in the country's classrooms to reduce interference in class. CTOnews.com notes that these devices are only allowed under certain circumstances, such as learning digital skills, for medical reasons, or for the needs of people with disabilities.

Dutch Education Minister Dick Graff said: "although mobile phones are inextricably linked to our lives, they do not belong to the classroom. Students need to be able to concentrate and need the opportunity to study hard. Mobile phones are a kind of interference, and scientific research has proved this, and we need to protect students from this effect."

The ban is the result of an agreement reached between the Dutch Ministry of Education, schools and relevant organizations. Dick Graff says schools can find their own way to enforce the ban, but if the effect is not obvious by the summer of 2024, there will be laws to enforce it.
