CTOnews.com July 5, Linux Containers (LXC)'s open source container management extension LXD manager transitioned from Linux Containers to Canonical and will be taken over directly by Canonical in the future.

The official website of the LXD project issued a "LXD is now under Canonical" announcement today, saying that LXD is no longer owned by LinuxContainers and is divided into Canonical to take over.

Https://github.com/lxc/lxd will now become https://github.com/canonical/lxd

The https://linuxcontainers.org/lxd website is cancelled and user access will be redirected to https://ubuntu.com/lxd

LXD YouTube Channel will be handed over to Canonical team

Updates to the LXD section of the LinuxContainers community forum will be suspended and replaced by the Ubuntu Discourse forum run by Canonical

Maintenance of LXD CI infrastructure will be taken over by Canonical

The image compilation of Linux Containers is no longer dependent on the system provided by Canonical, and the image compilation is limited to x86room64 and aarch64

The rest of the Linux container items are not affected

The server images currently used by LXC and LXD will continue to operate normally.
