Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, July 4 (Xinhua)-- Social media giant Twitter has been sued by a Sydney company for refusing to pay more than $1 million for office decoration.
Sydney-based Facilitate Corporation has been satisfied and paid for Twitter's renovation and development services for Twitter's non-US offices in London, Dublin, Singapore and Sydney since 2015, according to court documents. But that changed after Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022.
Facilitate believes that some of Musk's management decisions, such as banning users who criticize him and restoring accounts such as former President Donald Trump, resented opponents and plunged Twitter into a "momentary financial crisis," the document said. "it is understood that Twitter has taken extreme austerity measures, requiring almost everyone who owes money to sue it," the document said. Twitter is understood to have stopped paying rent for some offices and stopped paying to several suppliers it still uses its services. Twitter has also cancelled many contracts and stopped paying arrears. "
Facilitate said it installed sensors for Twitter in London and Dublin between early 2022 and early 2023, carried out a comprehensive office renovation in Singapore, and was responsible for dismantling and temporarily storing its office belongings when Twitter left Australia to save money. The total bill for these jobs is more than $1.05 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 7.613 million yuan), of which more than $60, 000 is related to the Sydney office. According to the contract, Twitter should pay the money within 60 days after receiving the invoice, Facilitate said.
"after the acquisition, Facilitate communicated with its remaining Twitter contacts about unpaid invoices. They did not indicate that Twitter challenged the amount of invoices owed, nor did they provide reasons for non-payment," the court filing said.
Facilitate requested the court to compel Twitter to pay invoices, damages and interest. If the case continues, please assist in applying for a jury trial.
