CTOnews.com news on July 4, today, Tencent Cloud officially released self-Research Vector Database (Tencent Cloud VectorDB), which is expected to launch on Tencent Cloud's official website in August.

According to reports, the database is oriented to large model training, reducing the access of large models that originally took enterprises a month to complete to three days.

Luo Yun, Deputy General Manager of Tencent Cloud Database, pointed out that vector database has been used in 30 + business scenarios such as QQ Browser, Tencent Video, Tencent Games, QQ Music and Sogou Input, and has developed a distributed vector database core engine Olama, formerly known as ElasticFaiss.

According to the public information of CTOnews.com query, Olama hatched as early as April 2019 and currently supports a billion-level single-row vector data index, query QPS up to million, and response latency of 20 milliseconds.

It is worth mentioning that the vector database is derived from the Vector engine (OLAMA) of Tencent Group, which processes hundreds of billions of searches every day. A single index supports 1 billion-level vectors, which is more suitable for AI computing and retrieval, and the efficiency of data access to AI is 10 times higher than that of traditional solutions.

In addition, Tencent Cloud announced the progress of its research and development of industry models for the first time on June 19, building a selected store for industry models based on Tencent Cloud TI platform to provide customers with MaaS (Model-as-a-Service) one-stop service.

In April this year, Tencent Cloud released a new generation of HCC high-performance computing cluster designed for large model training, using the latest generation of Tencent Cloud Xinghai self-developed server, with the highest 3.2Tbps interconnection bandwidth in the industry and a three-fold improvement in computing performance.
