CTOnews.com news on July 4, according to the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhang Yunming, vice minister of industry and information technology, met with visiting Nokia CEO long Peikai (Pekka Lundmark) and his entourage in Beijing on July 3, 2023. The two sides exchanged views on 5G network construction, industrial digital transformation, 6G technology and standards cooperation and other issues.

Zhang Yunming said that the Chinese government is making efforts to build a modern infrastructure system and promote the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy, which will create more cooperation opportunities for foreign enterprises, including Nokia. It is hoped that Nokia will strengthen its confidence in the development of China, take demand as the lead, actively participate in China's 5G network construction, jointly promote global 6G innovation and development, and provide better, more and more competitive products and services.

Long Peikai thanks the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for its concern and support for Nokia, and is willing to deeply participate in China's industrial digital transformation, continuously enhance the competitiveness of products in the 5G field, and strengthen the coordination and cooperation of 6G standards.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Nokia owns more than 20000 patents, including 5500 5G-related patents.

Many of the patents held by Nokia are considered necessary for contemporary 5G devices, and officials say they will offer their patents on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms, offering "reasonable" license prices to users.

In addition, Nokia announced on June 15 that it had completed testing of a new 5G network slicing scheme that allows Android users to buy and activate network slicing on demand from its operators. The new service will be launched synchronously after the release of the Android 14 system. With this new feature, operators will be able to further monetize 5G slicing services by providing high-quality network slicing.

Nokia Group and Huaxin Post and Telecommunications, a subsidiary of China Poly Group, have established a joint venture Nokia Bell, which currently has six major R & D centers, a global service delivery center and a branch of the world-renowned Bell Labs in China.
