CTOnews.com, July 4 (Xinhua) according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, Saudi Arabia is one of the few smartphone markets with year-on-year growth, with shipments up 26% year-on-year.

The report points out that this is mainly driven by strong macroeconomic fundamentals, accelerated digitization and growing equipment financing options.

Among OEM manufacturers, Samsung and Apple have a combined share of more than 50%, followed by Xiaomi and Motorola, and Glory ranks fifth.

Samsung has improved supply in this market, upgrading the Galaxy M series and Galaxy A series 5G phones, of which the Galaxy M53 is the best-selling Android phone of the quarter.

Driven by the popularity of the iPhone 14 series, Apple's smartphone shipments have nearly doubled compared with last year.

Apple launched "buy first and pay later" and other methods in the Saudi market this quarter, further encouraging users in the region to buy iPhone. IPhone occupied four of the top five bestsellers in the first quarter of 2023, with iPhone 14 Pro at the top of the list.

Xiaomi's shipments in Saudi Arabia increased this quarter compared with the same period last year, but its share fell slightly. This is mainly because Motorola and Glory have launched many new products, diluting Xiaomi's share.

Xiaomi has consolidated its market share by virtue of its extensive price band mix, innovative marketing strategies, and the strong influence of both offline and online channels.

Motorola's share has been growing, driven by products priced between $150 and $249. Of these, the Moto G series accounted for nearly 3/4 of its total sales in the first quarter.

Glory Glory is the fastest-growing brand in the Saudi market, with shipments more than doubling year-on-year. Glory's growth is mainly due to concentrated expansion efforts, active launch activities and an attractive mid-to-high-end product mix. Glory also benefits from taking advantage of Huawei's early distribution and channel relationships.
